Sundial

IRT

So, what time does the sundial say say at 4:40pm as I'm walking to the bus? Have a closer look.

So does that say 2:30? Let's see, if solar noon is about 1:45 p.m., then I would have expected it to be showing 4:40 - 1:45 = 2:55 p.m.

Pretty close, though... I wonder whether it is more accurate at different times of year.

Apparently so. I hadn't realized this.

Too confusing for me. Fortunately I do not need a clock to tell me when it is time to eat.

I believe the IRT was built in 1927. It was originally a movie house. I've looked at it many times in detail and yet never registered the sundial before--thanks Carl!
