Cheaper Eyeglasses
Found today on 43folders.com: how to save money by ordering eyeglasses online.

This is something I'm sure I'll need to try out fairly soon.

I just bought a new pair of glasses. I went to several stores looking at frames. When I found a frame I liked I went online to see if I could find the same frame for cheaper. I did. The online frame was $80 cheaper than the exact same frame found in the store. I could have also purchased my lenses online but with my prescription, I didn't want to chance that.

The online stores (at least as far as I could tell) do not give any warranties. They will guarantee the glasses are genuine but they don't give any warranties if something breaks. Whereas a street store will typically give some kind of warranty on the frames. I've only broke one frame in the 20 some years I've worn glasses so I was not concerned about a warranty.

I am very satisfied with the frames I received. I will definitely look online for a pair of frames the next time I need them.

If I understand correctly, you bought the lenses locally but the frames online. How did you make sure the lenses fit the frames?

I bought the frames first. I took them into the local store and had them fill the lens prescription.

Sama was in need of a new pair of glasses. After reading this, we decided to try ordering a pair online. We'll let you know how well it works. It's tough to argue with $36 for a pair of glasses, provided they are at all good.

We ordered from Goggles4U. None of the sites seemed particularly easy to navigate. Finding frames Sama liked on the site almost seemed like work.

The glasses finally arrived. Sama likes them a lot, even more than her previous pair which cost more even though she got them in Thailand. She's pretty enthused, and ready to order more. I guess we would recommend them pretty highly.
