Second Life Ergonomics
[info]bushi7 sent me a link to these articles about ergonomics for Second Life avatars. I thought they were fascinating: it's one thing to remember to make things easy for people to use, but virtual people have different needs. I'm sure much of this same advice applies to all virtual 3D environments.

I think what I like best about it is that someone was willing to actually think about and discuss the fact that things are different, and break that mold. My first issues in Second Life were some of the examples he listed (walking in curves, falling off things that should - and actually appeared to - have had barriers, etc.). Very frustrating. I didn't understand why people would create places as they did, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one.

And while I'm interested in seeing what the rest of Second Life looks like in comparison to the tiny slice I've seen... I'm not that interested. ;)
