Application Submitted
I just applied to graduate school. My goal is to get a certificate in Human Computer Interaction through IUPUI's School of Informatics, in order to better align my career with my interest in interaction design (especially as it applies to computer games).

It feels strange to think about going back to school again, in any capacity.

Hey, my friend Jack has an MA in that! It's an interesting field.

Hey, good for you! You'll be back in the school mode faster than you might think...

Hey, we'll be going to school together! :)

When do you start? I should start classes next fall.

I'm trying to get registered for my first class in the spring. To complete the certificate program I'll be taking one class each semester (including summer) five semesters in a row. Hmmm, not sure about summer 2009 though.

That will be very cool! Doing the evening-school-thing, I'm assuming...

Wow... Guess we'd better get moving on our project, then. You probably won't have much time for it once classes start!

The first class is actually web-based, which I find a little disappointing. I'd prefer to go somewhere that I'd be interacting with a professor and other students. But it will be convenient.

Yeah, not sure what effect this will have timewise.

The web-based class I taught was pretty interactive (sometimes too interactive, as I think I mentioned on my other blog.) It's still not quite so much so as a face 2 face class, but hopefully the professor will encourage some discussion and connection between students.

Thanks! But I think I actually took the first step in May, when I started working for a company that already has people who do this. (And it looks like they'll reimburse my tuition.)
