Solar Eclipse
Karen and I were discussing yesterday, while driving out to my parents' farm for Thanksgiving, that we'd like to see a total solar eclipse. When is the next total solar eclipse in the continental US?

August 21, 2017. It will pass from Oregon to South Carolina, with the greatest eclipse point just 300 miles away in Christian County, Kentucky, so we're planning a road trip! And only 7 years later, on April 8, 2024, another eclipse will pass just south of Indianapolis (though this page indicates that the 2024 eclipse will not pass through Christian County again as the Wikipedia article claims: the real intersection is near Carbondale, Illinois) as part of the "US Eclipse Bonanza" of the 21st century.

So funny...have to share...

I read this entry and my first thought was, "Cool. That would be really great to see." My second thought was, "Won't that be a GenCon weekend?"

Sad, so sad.

You're not the first person I would have expected to realize that. :)

Hey, cool! Yeah, we can plan to enjoy the eclipse somewhere together--anyone interested can join. Not sure I want to spend it in Kentucky, but we all have plenty of time to discuss the particulars...
