First Draft Complete
I finally have completed what I consider the first complete draft of the StoryCards manual: sixty pages that took three years to write. Hopefully my next project will go faster.

If anyone would be interested in proofreading the manual and/or offering any sort of feedback, please let me know.

Shiny! Absolutely gorram shiny!

I'd love to doing the proofreading/feedbacking thing. (Please don't consider that an example of my writing - this is just a blog, after all. )

What images? On this blog or in the manual? (There really aren't any in the manual, aside from a couple of diagrams; Karen will add others when she does the layout.)

Sorry for the ambiguity; I was trying to include smiley images in my post, and it didn't work for some reason. It's worked before, so either they disabled them in LJ (which would suck, but I would understand) or you disabled them in your settings (which I didn't know about).

I received the message about the manual from the list, so I'll get back to you ASAP! :)

If I've somehow turned them off, I don't know how I did it. :)

I have been the Technical Editor of half a dozen computer books put out by Sams Publishing, though not recently. I'd be willing to look over your manual and treat it the same way. I'd look for anything that's not clear (and since I have never played Story Cards, I could come at it as a novice whose only guide to the system would be your manual).

What kind of timeframe are you talking for this review though? I am not sure how much free time I'll have, but I will try to make time where I can.

I didn't know you'd done that. Which books did you edit?

I'd certainly appreciate your input on the manual, especially since you haven't actually played the game: I really need to know if it makes sense on its own without me there to explain it.

As for timeframes, I think there might be as much as a month, but I need to check my project schedule to be certain.

If you're still interested, I can email you the URL for the manual.

I was TE for "Teach Yourself Web Publishing with HTML in a Week" and its sequel, "Teach Yourself More Web Publishing with HTML in a Week", and also "Teach Yourself CGI Programming with Perl in a Week" and a few others that don't spring to mind immediately but are probably still in a box in my basement just because they have my name in a big star on the back. I used to love to go to Borders just to pull the books with my name off the shelves. It was something I did on the side when I worked as webmaster for Macmillan Computer Publishing, which is the parent company of Sams.

Sure, I'm interested, go ahead and send me the URL and I'll do my best to meet the schedule.

It might be worthy to note the website.

StoryCards Role-Playing game is such a great role-playing game it deserves a higher page rank for the search term StoryCards, dontcha think?
