07:58 am - Renaming StoryCards: The Results
Thank you to everyone for your input on renaming StoryCards. I've tried to carefully consider all your advice, even if the outcome may not seem to show it. And without further ado, StoryCards henceforth will be known as: StoryCards.
I don't think the trademarking issues are going to be a problem, since there are multiple products out there by the same name (thus if they were going to sue anyone, I should think they would have done so already), and none of them are roleplaying games anyway. Officially the product will be known, I think, as StoryCards Roleplaying, but the ambigram logo will just say StoryCards. I expect I can get StoryCardsRoleplaying or StoryCardsRPG as a domain without difficulty, and I need to pounce on that very soon. The name isn't so strange (using foreign words) to turn anyone off, and does a good job of describing the product, so despite the fact that it was never intended to be anything other than a working title, it does the job better than anything else I've heard. It even has a tiny bit of brand recognition, having been listed in the GenCon catalog twice now.
So there it is. Thanks again for all your input.
09:04 am - Microscopic Art
It's probably not a good thing that I'm so easily distracted. A casual comment at work forced me to look for a picture of some famous building that was supposedly painted on a grain of rice. I didn't find it, but I did find these:
* The works of Valeriy Dvoryanov
* Jin Yin Hua's painting of a panda upon a human hair
* Willard Wigan's microscopic sculptures
I'm continually amazed by how humans will express themselves, but I can never decide if I'm more amazed by what they are capable of doing or by what they will choose to do.
